About PFBoss

PFBoss is a personal-finance blog from Tiny House Media, LLC — the same shop behind TinyHouseTalk.com and ComedyNewsletter.com. We publish fictional money stories and practical education. We do not publish advice.

Read this first: Financial Disclaimer. Characters are made up. Numbers are hypothetical. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything, and we are not a fiduciary.

The idea

Most money writing talks to a generic “you.” PFBoss talks through a cast. Each character has a job, a city-ish cost of living, a messy balance sheet, and a monthly report: cash flow, net worth, and (when it applies) investments.

The point is not to crown a winner. The point is to make tracking money feel as normal as checking the weather — and to show, as one educational example, how a boring long-term habit can look: automatic contributions into a broad U.S. large-cap index fund (often described as an S&P 500 fund). That is a teaching device, not a product pitch. Target-date funds and total-market funds show up in the same classroom.

What you will find

  • Monthly character reports — invented but realistic snapshots from different incomes and jobs. Meet them on Meet the Cast.
  • How-to pieces — spreadsheets, payoff math, and investing vocabulary explained in plain English.
  • A loud disclaimer — because “this worked for a fictional plumber in a blog post” is not a plan.
